Who We Are

Atlanta Insight Meditation Community (AIMC) is a Buddhist meditation, practice, and study community based in the Insight/Vipassana tradition. We are a group of spiritual friends who are committed to the journey of living a peaceful life. Together we take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and Sangha. By taking refuge in the Buddha, we embrace the historical Buddha and his teachings on working with the mind and heart. We also take refuge in our own awakening hearts. We take refuge in the Dharma, the teachings that guide us in developing our own understanding of the path to peace and freedom. And, we take refuge in Sangha, this community of friends who support one another as we face life's challenges and joys.

More About AIMC

How We Gather

We offer multiple ways to gather as community. For the benefit of many of our members that live out-of-town and out-of-state, the majority of our weekly offerings are virtual, via the Zoom platform.

We do offer many opportunities for in-person meeting, including our quarterly retreats at Atlanta Friends Meeting House and monthly coffee and lunch gatherings.

  • Virtual Sangha

We provide Sangha via the Zoom platform every Tuesday evening. We meet from 6:30-8:00pm Eastern time.

The standard flow for each gathering is:

    • silent meditation, starting promptly at 6:30pm (30 minutes)

    • a Dharma talk by one of our teachers (~ 30 minutes)

    • breakout group discussion related to Dharma topic (~ 15-20 minutes)

    • full group discussion (~ 10 minutes)

If you would like to participate in a Zoom session, please click here to complete our access form. Please send your request at least 72 hours prior to the planned meeting start time.

  • Virtual Sangha

Thursday Satsang is a weekly morning drop-in meditation and dharma discussion group every Thursday morning at 8 AM (US Eastern) for an hour (or as long as you can stay). The group is  open to those interested in Mindfulness Meditation and in sharing practice with a warm, welcoming community.  There will be a silent or guided sit followed by questions and discussion (satsang).

The Thursday Satsang will be freely offered, as these practices are priceless. Dana (generosity) in any form will be accepted with gratitude from those moved to offer it as part of practice.

    Host:  Susan Reviere (SusanReviere@bellsouth.com)

Dharma Talks

Each week, our Teachers thoughtfully and mindfully prepare and deliver a Dharma talk to our Sangha. These talks are provided here as a gift to others seeking to hear and share in the Dharma.

There are currently hundreds of talks available. For a complete list of these teachings, please visit our SoundCloud site.
